Northwood Little League is trying to defend its state championship at Chester beginning Saturday morning.

Northwood Little League is trying to defend its state championship at Chester beginning Saturday morning.

 

The Northwood Little League begins play in the state championship tournament beginning Saturday in Chester.

Northwood plays Irmo in its first game Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Chester Baseball Complex. The tournament is double elimination.

Northwood is the defending state and Southeast Region champions who played in the Little League World Series last year at Williamsport, Pa.

Northwood will have to win the state championship, and then repeat as Southeast Region champions (Aug. 5-10) played in Warner Robbins, Ga.
