Northwood plays Virginia for Southeast LL title on ESPN2
• Northwood beats Florida

Northwood, the South Carolina state champion, will play Virginia in the Little League Southeast Regional championship at 5 p.m. Thursday at Warner Robbins, Ga. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Virginia beat Florida 5-2 in an elimination game Wednesday to set up Thursday’s championship.

The Northwood Little League, from Taylors, attempts to become the first team from South Carolina to qualify for the Little League World Series since 1952 when Clinton represented the state.

Northwood won all three of its games by a combined score of 32-10. Alex Edmondson has gone 6-for-9 with a home run in each of the three games. He has six RBI. Edmondson struck out 13 batters in four innings against North Carolina.

South Carolina and Virginia have not played in the tournament and Northwood is the only unbeaten team (3-0) in the regional.

The regional champion will advance to the Little League World Series Aug. 20-30 in Williamsport, Pa.
