Douglas Reid Hall, 93, was born July 12, 1924 and passed away May 3, 2018.

A native of Greenville County, he was a pillar of the Brushy Creek Community and always willing to help those in need. His legendary garden was grown to give tomatoes to family and friends. Doug was the owner and operator of Doug Hall's Automotive Garage.

He was an organizer and first Fire Chief of the Boiling Springs Fire Department.

Doug built and drove racecars on local tracks in the 1950s and 1960s and was a dirt track legend. He helped NASCAR Hall of Famer, David Pearson by building his racing engines when he first began his racing career.


Surviving:

Surviving are two children, Judy Taylor (Carter) and Teri Rigsby (Wayne) all of Greer; five grandchildren, Scott Moore, Tamara Grah, Lauren Rigsby, Geoff Rigsby and Emily Brunson; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lawson Macknelly "Mack" Hall and Lillie Jones Hall; his beloved wife of 55 years, Lila McCoy Hall; a son, Lonnie Douglas Hall; all his brothers and sisters, Odell Hall, Lottie Good, Willis Hall, John Turner "Jack" Hall, Ruth Satterfield and Maggie Talley.

Funeral Services:

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Jerry Lethco. Interment will be in the Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the mortuary prior to the service.

The family is at the Teri Rigsby home, 1222 Old Spartanburg Road, Greer.

The family would like to express gratitude for the help and kindness given in the last years of the life of our father and grandfather to Tommy Strange, Walt Panagakos, Roy Gosnell and Doctors and staff of St. Francis Hospital.
