Guy Lacey Hamby, 86, of 113 James Road, widower of Kathleen Harvey Hamby, died September 17, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late George Washington and Nannie Leopard Hamby, he was a US Army and US Air Force Veteran and a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Hamby was a carpenter in life and now he is building mansions in Heaven.
Surviving:
Surviving are two daughters, Gail Aiken and husband Mike of Lyman and Beverly Knighton of Greer; three sons, Scott Hamby and wife Charlene of Greer, Allen Knighton of Greer and Jerry Knighton and wife Jean of Wellford; one brother Jack Hamby of Greer; two sisters, Derleith Hamby of Greenville and Burnadine Cancienne of New Orleans, LA; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Hamby was predeceased by four brothers J.D., George, Doyle and Eb Hamby.
Funeral Services:
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Davon Harrelson and Rev. T.J. Marcus. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Mortuary, 300 West Poinsett Street, Greer, S.C. 29650.
The family is at the home.
