Iona Sloan Atkins, 88, widow of Elmer Maurice Atkins, formerly of Ridgewood Drive, died November 10, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House.
A native of Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late, C.E. ?Mountain Lion? and Annie Mason Sloan, a housewife and member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Caring and Sharing Sunday School Class and the Ladies Auxiliary of UTU.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Elizabeth Atkins of Greer; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and David Rankin of Anderson; one sister, Earline Keller of Berea; two grandchildren, Larry Thompson and his wife, Kim of Charlotte, NC and Laura Lee Thompson of Anderson and five great grandchildren, Jacob, Nina, Paul, Katelyn and Tyler.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Gene, Harry, and Dargan Sloan and one sister, Cornelia Gaston.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Larry Carter and Rev. Wayne Cole.
Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Monday at the mortuary prior to the service.
The family is at the home of the son and daughter-in-law, 140 Rubiwood Circle, Greer, SC 29651.
