James Robert Ponder, 86, widower of Ann Taylor Ponder, passed away March 18, 2017.

A native of Greenville County, son of the late Fred and Pearl Campbell Ponder, a retired supervisor of Springs Industries, Lyman for 45 years, a member of Fairview Baptist Church for 45 years and a former deacon of El Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Ponder was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving:

Surviving are two daughters, Carol Abercrombie Strom (Larry) of Piedmont and Rachel Elaine Field (Beau) of Greer; one son, Jay Ponder (Deborah) of Campobello; one sister-in-law, Mae Ponder of Greer; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Services:

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Fairview Baptist Church cemetery with military honors, conducted by Rev. Mark Spearman.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the mortuary.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Rachel Field.
