Joe "Papa Joe" Selph, Jr., 90, widower of Barbara Long Selph, passed away July 27, 2021.

A native of Hillsborough County, Florida, son of the late Joe Frank Selph, Sr. and Helen Virginia Beaty Selph, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran, he was also a member of the Selective Service and earned a Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Ribbon and National Defense Service Ribbon as well as served on the U.S.S. Bergall (SS-320).

Mr. Selph was a retired corporate pilot for Dow Chemical and a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and friend.

Joe never met a stranger; he always had a story to tell and was constantly spreading laughter. He had a passion for flying which started in 1946 and for golfing with his friends.

Surviving:

Surviving are two sons, J. David Selph (Joy) of Duncan and Joseph Selph III (Dottie) of Greer; a daughter, Lori S. Bright (Randy) of Florida; four grandchildren, Angela Stubbs (Neill), Samantha Jefferson, Jami Bright and Joshua Bright (Brittany); and four great-grandchildren, Preston Stubbs, Miles Stubbs, Makenna Keene and Gabby Keene.

Mr. Selph was predeceased by one son, Danny Selph.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021, at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Dr. Benny Littlejohn.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held 10:30-11:45 a.m. Saturday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.
