Joel Wayne Owensby, 74, died September 1, 2013 at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC.

A native of Greenville County, he was a son of the late Lewis Young Owensby and Bernice Jean Hood Owensby, a retired employee of Fluor Daniel, a member of Washington Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Surviving:

Surviving are his wife, Rachel Dill Owensby of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanna Grove and Stacy and Scott Edwards all of Greer; son and daughter-in-law, Joel ?Jody? and Tina Owensby of Greer; two brothers, James Owensby (Joyce) of Greenville and Gary Owensby (Bobbie) of Greer; one sister, Linda Fowler (Roger) of Simpsonville; twelve grandchildren, Travis Grove (Caroline), Tyler Grove (Jennifer), Dustin Owensby, Cody Edwards, Colby Thomas, Whitney Martindale (Kane), Kristen Anders, Kelsey Edwards, Tessia Thomas, Hope Owensby, Faith Owensby, and Matthew Waldron; and nine great-grandchildren, Justin Anders, Hayden Martindale, Braylon Edwards, Abigail Anders, Emma Grove, Brynlee Martindale, Jackson Edwards, Jace Edwards, and Ethan Grove.

He was predeceased also by a brother, Mickey Owensby.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Washington Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Drew Hines and Rev. Joe Price. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.

Pallbearers will be Travis Grove, Dustin Owensby, Kane Martindale, Cody Edwards, Colby Thomas and Tony Owensby.
