Joseph (Joe) Melton Owings, 69, passed away October 18, 2017.

A native of Greenville County, son of the late Woodrow and Veleria Hensley Owings, he was a retired employee of Greenville County Road and Bridge Department and attended Hopewell Baptist Church.

He was a member of Taylors Masonic Lodge #345 and Downey Chapter of The Eastern Star #275.

Surviving:

Surviving are his wife, Thelma Duncan Owings of the home; one son, Woody Owings (Paula) of Greer; two granddaughters; two special nephews and a special niece.

Mr. Owings was predeceased by one son, Chris Owings.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Hopewell Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Michael Pittman.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Honorary escorts will be Downey Chapter Order of The Eastern Star #275 and Taylors Masonic Lodge #345.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:30 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.
