Luther Lawrence Sizemore, 66, of 104 Gavins Point Road, Greenville, SC died March 23, 2015 at his home.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, May 2, 1948 to the late John S. Sizemore, Sr. and Harriet Taylor Sizemore, he was a 1966 graduate of James F. Byrnes High School, received a Certificate in Police Science from Pensacola Junior College and attended North Greenville Junior College.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in the S.C. National Guard.

Mr. Sizemore retired as groundskeeper from Greenville County School District in 2010 and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, Greer, SC where he served as long time teacher of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

He was an avid gardener with tomatoes and amaryllis being his specialties. His favorite pastime was trying to "trick a fish" with his buddies John, David, Wayne and Gene.

Summer vacations were spent collecting seashells on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Surviving:

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Helen LaLeene Dickson Sizemore of the home; a daughter, Cynthia Sizemore Handford of Greer, SC; a grandson, Jonathan Lawrence Hall of Greer, SC; brothers, John Sizemore (Marise) and William "Ott" Sizemore (Lynda) all of Greer, SC; two aunts, Selena Griffin of Asheville, NC and Juanita T. Bruce of Landrum, SC; cousin, Fredda B. Turner (Reg) of Landrum, SC; three nephews and six nieces; mother-in-law, Azile Dickson and brother-in-law, Alan Dickson (Nancy) all of Moore, SC; and a sister-in-law, Marsha Robinson of Greenville, SC.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ron Dillard and Rev. Scott Childs.

Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 790 Highway 417, Moore, SC.

Pallbearers will be David Arms, Wayne Stanley, Gene Gilbert, Arnold Edwards, Wayne Reffner and Norm Shaffer.

Honorary escort will be the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.

A special thank you to oncologist, Dr. Kim Gococo and nurse, Cassie Wiseman, who treated Luther with love and compassion for over 14 years and to Regency Hospice staff for their support.
