Mildred Howard Giles, 88, widow of Sanford William Giles, died October 23, 2012.
A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Perry W. and Erie Ballenger Howard, she was a retired employee with The School District of Greenville County, where she loved working with special education children and various classroom situations.
Mrs. Giles was a gifted artist and lover of books. She was an active member of St. John?s Baptist Church and was a lifelong member of the choir. Music was a passion for her and felt it was a joy of self expression and praise to her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Mark Foster of Tupelo, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Israel Samuel Foster, Noah Worth Foster and Sloane Anderson Foster; and nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law of various states.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Joel Duncan and Rev. Dow Welsh.
A private burial will be held in Edgewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 9:45-10:45 a.m. Monday at The Wood Mortuary.
