Mary Ellen (Mitzi) Edwards Daugherty Dixon, of 200 Appleton Lane, went home to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 4, 2012 at her home.
Born in Greenville County, daughter of the late C.M. (Joe) and Elizabeth Holloway Edwards, she was a member of Donaldson Church of God, where she attended the Married Couples Sunday School Class, had served on the board of Ladies Ministries, the Shower Committee, was chair person for the Welcome Center, and worked in the Outreach Ministry for a number of years.
She was the owner and manager of Dixon?s Nurses Registry, was associated with Carter Nurses Registry and Interim Health Care at one time.
Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Clayton Dixon, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Toni Bartelt of Greenville and Barbara Holbrook of Bear, Delaware; a very special granddaughter, Jenna Bartelt; other granddaughters, Brianna Holbrook and Shauna Holbrook; a grandson, Lundy Holbrook; four great-grandsons, Isaiah Holbrook, Matthew Reynolds, Elijah Holbrook and Emmanuel Holbrook; a sister, Polly McBeth of Mauldin; and two brothers, Michael Dickenson of Mauldin and Billy Dickenson of Easley.
Mrs. Dixon was predeceased by one son, Jimmy Daugherty, Jr. and one sister, Chris Frazier.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Donaldson Church of God, conducted by Rev. Alton Stone and Rev. Eddie Allen. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
