R.B. Fortenberry, 87, of 187 Westayer Heights, died August 2, 2012 at Camp Care.

A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Tom Fortenberry and Lillie Mae Himbree Kimbrell, he was a clock maker and watch repairman and a member of Holiness Church.

Mr. Fortenberry served his country as a medic with the Army 118th Infantry in Iceland, Ireland and Germany during WWII from 1941-1945. He was an Evangelist in the Pentecostal Denomination. He was Past Commander of Inman Memorial Post 9324 and also a member of American Legion.

Surviving:

Surviving is his wife of 66 years Effie Hilton Fortenberry of the home; one daughter and son-in-law Carol and Harold Gosnell of Lyman; two sons and daughters-in-law, Guy and Pat Fortenberry of Inman and Raymond Phillip and Carolyn Fortenberry of Fountain Inn; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fortenberry was predeceased by a brother William Fortenberry and two grandchildren.

Funeral Services:

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at Wood Mortuary, Greer, S.C.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Wood Mortuary conducted by Pastor Paul Johnson and Chaplain Peter Bartodes. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

The family is at the home of the daughter, Carol Gosnell, 20 Barnette Road, Lyman, S.C. 29365.
