Rev. Fred Hammett Brown, 85, of Greer, SC died Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Greenville, SC.

Son of Fred H. and Venity Hammett Brown, he was born into a loving Christian family on February 10, 1930 and grew up in the Cedar Spring Community of Spartanburg, SC.

He received a call to Gospel ministry while a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church at the age of 20, and he went on to graduate from Mars Hill Junior College, Furman University, and Southern Baptist Seminary in pursuit of the Lord?s will for his life.

He enthusiastically pastored New Hope Baptist Church in Cross Anchor, SC, served as Associate Pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC, and pastored Northwood Baptist Church in Greer, SC and First Baptist Church in Dillon, SC before retiring and serving as Interim Pastor of Double Springs Baptist Church and of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church of Greer.

A member of Taylors First Baptist Church, he diligently loved others by excelling in many varied ministries both inside and outside the church, leaving a legacy of faithfulness to all that had the privilege of seeing Jesus shining through his life.

Surviving:

Survivors include his second wife Judy Buchanan Brown; three sons, Barry Lynn Brown of Greer, SC, Eric Hayes Brown and wife Hannah of Taylors, SC and Jeffrey D. Buchanan and wife Kathy of Hanover Park, IL; and a daughter, Barb Wagner and husband Joe, of Maryland, NY; six grandsons and one granddaughter; sisters, Violet B. Littlejohn of Spartanburg, Lorene B. Waldrep of Greenwood, and brother Kenneth H. Brown of Florence.

He was predeceased by his first wife Vera Hayes Brown, and a sister, Betty Jean B. Smith.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Taylors First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Jimmie Harley and Dr. Les Morgan.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Taylors First Baptist Church Gathering Space.

Honorary escort will be the Fred Brown Sunday School class at Taylors First Baptist Church.
