Reverend Virgil E. Smith, 94, went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2016.

He was predeceased by his wife of more than 60 years, Joyce Ashmore Smith, and his parents, Ethel Christopher Smith and Nick Nathaniel Smith.

Surviving:

Surviving are his daughter, Joni S. Phillips (Carol); sons, Philip E. Smith and Mark A. Smith (Freida); five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Rev. Smith served as Pastor of three churches in SC: Moore Baptist Church, West End Baptist Church, and Pastored the International Christian Church in Dubai, U.A.E. for 12 years.

Additionally, he served as Associate Pastor of Apalache Baptist Church in Greer, SC.

He was a life-long member of Pelham First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years.

Funeral Services:

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Pelham First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Mark A. Smith.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer, S.C.

The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 - 3:45 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be: Brad Phillips, Jay Phillips, Chris Smith, Josh Epton, Dylan Phillips, Jackson Epton, Graham Davis, Ayden Smith, Gage Smith and Truett Phillips.
