Uvil "U.C." Curtis Thackston, 75, of Jug Factory Road, died July 8, 2014 at his home.

A native of Greenville County, son of the late Henry Grover and Annie Mary Knight Thackston, he was a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired employee of Fluor Construction and of the Church of God faith.

Surviving:

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ledford Thackston; two daughters, Annette Boone (Chris) and Wanda Ashley all of Greer; a brother, Jewel Thackston of Greenville; a sister, Mary Lou Reid of Simpsonville; five grandchildren, Julie Gillman, Justin McAbee, Dereck Atkins, Jacob McAbee and Erik Atkins; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thackston was predeceased by a son, Curtis Thackston.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday at The Wood Mortuary. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bud Atkins, Dereck Atkins, Jacob McAbee, Erik Atkins, Andrew Flemming and Jonathan Reid.

Honorary escorts will be the Ready Fellowship Class and the Gelzer Fellowship Class of Northwood Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held 10:30-11:45 a.m. Friday at The Wood Mortuary.
