Virginia Smith Mullinax, 91, formerly of 60 Lawrence Street, widow of Horace William Mullinax, passed away August 28, 2012 at Magnolia Place.
She was born in the Woods Chapel Community near Duncan, SC, August 7, 1921 to the late Thomas Dewitt and Iona Smith.
She lived in Lyman for almost 70 years. A true friend, gifted mother and faithful, civic, school volunteer, she attended Spartanburg Methodist College and married Horace William Mullinax, May 19, 1944. She was a longtime member of Lyman United Methodist Church.
Surviving:
Surviving are three sons, John W. Mullinax of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, Eric Mullinax of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Morris Mullinax of Aiken; a brother, Morris Smith of Duncan; two sisters, Martha Hayes and Dot Stephens both of Duncan; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mullinax was predeceased by a son, Tommy Mullinax.
Funeral Services:
Funeral services will be held 11: 00 a.m. Saturday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Brian Gilmer. A private committal will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at The Wood Mortuary.
