A Virginia man was killed Saturday in an early morning collision on Highway 14 at River Road in Greer.
Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said Clark Alan Shelton, 34, of Strasburg, Va., died around 1 a.m. He died at the scene.
Evans and Greer Police Lt. Jimmy Holcombe reported Shelton was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Hwy. 14 when his vehicle went off the road on the right, striking a guardrail and driving back onto the road and crossing the double yellow line.
A southbound vehicle was unable to avoid the collision.
Shelton died from blunt force trauma, according to Evans.
The accident remains under investigation.
