Person identified who died at BMW when caught in piece of machinery
One person was confirmed dead at the Greer BMW Manufacturing Co., Wednesday after reports someone had been stuck in a piece of machinery.

Bojan Sprah, 45, of Boiling Springs was identified as the person who died in the incident that occurred in the paint shop.

Sprah, a contract worker, was from Slovenia. His family has been notified, according to Coroner Rusty Clevenger.

BMW officials confirmed the death after emergency personnel confirmed the coroner responded about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Clevenger said the person who was killed was not a BMW employee. BMW contracts with employment agencies to help staff the assembly plant.

A spokesperson at BMW issued the following statement:

“The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accidental death at BMW Manufacturing. The death occurred in one of our paint shops. The paint shop has stopped operation as the investigation continues. When the accident occurred, BMW first responders were immediately called to provide aid. Pelham-Batesville EMS also responded. Since this is an active investigation, BMW is not able to comment further at this time."
