Missy Pumphrey, Kodi Jean Johnson and JJ Pedigo signed college letters-of-intent to continue their athletic careers.

Pumphrey will play soccer for the University of South Carolina Upstate. The Spartans participate in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Pumphrey said Upstate’s academics and school of nursing help guide her. “I loved the place on my official visit and they have a great nursing program,” she said.

Johnson will play soccer for Newberry College.

“I’ve been connected with the sport for ten years and love playing it,” Johnson said. “To think I get to play (soccer) the next four years of my life is incredible.”

Johnson said she plans majoring in European history and hopes to use that as an avenue to travel abroad during summers.

Pedigo will play lacrosse for the University of Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. He said he will study medicine.

Pedigo is a member of the school’s first recruiting class since the sport has been added for the 2015-2016 season. Cumberland plays in the Mid-South Conference.

He will play for Pete Campbell who begins his first college coaching job.
