Emma Ritter of Taylors was named winner of the Concerto Competition at Valparaiso University.
As part of this honor, Ritter, a sophomore, earned the opportunity to perform with Valparaiso University’s Chamber Concert Band last month.
“Emma has made wonderful progress as a musician during her time at Valpo,” said Dennis Friesen-Carper, Frederick A. and Mazie N. Reddel Professor of Music. “We were all very impressed by her winning audition, and her performance confirmed the judges’ confidence in her.”
Each fall, Valparaiso University holds its Concerto Competition for students to audition for the chance to perform with the Valparaiso University Symphony Orchestra or Chamber Concert Band.
The 2012 Concerto Competition brought together nearly 20 Valparaiso University sophomores, juniors and senior musicians who performed for a panel of outside judges.
