Rivera’s is launching a Girls Night Out promotion beginning Tuesday at its restaurant at 117 Poinsett Street. GNO, as Lucinda Rivera likes to call it, will be Tuesday through Thursday from 5-9 p.m.

Lucinda and her husband /chef, Bruce will feature a tapas menu and 25 percent off bottled wines. A $5 martini list will also be available.

Rivera’s is coinciding the promotion in concert with its four-year anniversary, which took place earlier this month.

There will be wine tastings on Tuesday and a food and trivia evening is planned for later. “We’re going to see how this goes and we’re exploring the possibility of bringing in music later,” Lucinda said.

“We’re seeing a lot more business, professional and executive women coming in together in the evenings,” Lucinda said. “It’s a cultural shift we’ve been noticing with independent women and we have created a menu insert for them.”

Lucinda said, “We are always looking for ways to market the restaurant. We can promote our appetizer menu with this event.” She reasons that women are more independent and have more disposable income.

Women will receive a card to be punched or stamps placed on them rewarding them and their guests with $10 off after five places are filled.

Lucinda said Rivera’s has benefited from more traffic downtown that frequent the restaurant. The retention rate for Rivera’s is excellent, Lucinda said, and this promotion is targeted for women coming together and enjoying the evening.  “We believe they will tell their husbands or boyfriends and they will bring the women back.”

Interestingly, Lucinda said parking has become a moot point downtown. “They have learned where to park,” she said.

Rivera’s has added an extra person in the kitchen to help with its growth and is recruiting for a third chef.
