Riverside has tantalizing lead until Gaffney goes on scoring spree

Gaffney took the measure of Riverside, 79-47, in a boys basketball game Tuesday night at Riverside.

L.J. Peak scored a game-high 31 points for Gaffney and teammate Hyleck Foster added 16. Alan Caldwell led Riverside with 16 points and Kameron Small contributed 11.

Riverside had a short-lived lead, 10-5 early in the game but Gaffney scored 29 unanswered points at that point to coast to the finish.

Riverside is 6-6 overall and 1-4 in Region II-4A. The Warriors play Mauldin at Riverside Friday. Mauldin, 3-12 overall and 0-5 in the region, lost to Spartanburg 78-75 Tuesday night.

Gaffney, 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the Region, plays at Dorman Friday.
