Riverside High School Science Fair winners announced

Awards were recently announced for the 2013 Riverside High School Science Fair. These students will advance to the Regional Science Fair held at Roper Mountain Science Center in March.

Biology
1st place -- "Clear It Up" by Will Urich
2nd place -- "The Destructive Effects Soda Has On Your Body" by Sheldon Somers
3rd place -- "Does Cooking Fruit Destroy Vitamin C?" by Jess Parker
Honorable Mention -- "Antibiotic Properties of Neem and Tumeric" by Juhi Saxena

Chemistry
1st place -- "Burn Baby Burn!" by Erin Woods
2nd place -- "Dust Explosions" by Matthew Adamson
3rd place -- "When Using a Potato to Create an Electrical Output, Does the Type of Potato Affect the Results?" by Anna Pierce
Honorable Mention -- "Colors and Chemistry" by Molly Pyle

Physics
1st place -- "A Study in Efficiency: Finding Limits Within a System" by Elliot Lin
2nd place -- "The Converting of Sound into Useful Energy" by Thomas Neff
3rd plac --- "Blue Light's Effect on Brightness" by Hansen Mou
Honorable Mention -- "What Number of Fan Blades Produces the Most Energy?" by Sam Murtaugh

Environmental Science
1st place -- "The Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar" by Logan Young
2nd place -- "Correct Mirror Placement for Enhancing Solar Heating" by Matthew Hicks
3rd place -- "Which Parabolic Trough Reflects the Most Light?" by Sarah Byrd
Honorable Mention -- "Which is Cleaner: Tap, Refrigerator, or Brita?" by Charles Rarey
