Rogers wins Miss SMC 2015, Greer's Morehart is second runnerup

Ashley Rogers from Easley was crowned Miss Spartanburg Methodist College on Saturday during the annual pageant held in Gibbs Auditorium. 

Rogers’ talent was in vocal performance, singing “How Great Thou Art”.  Rogers, a sophomore who is pursuing an Associate in Arts degree with the major of elementary education, is the daughter of David and Kelley Rogers. 

Roger’s platform is mentoring young women to have self-esteem and confidence. She will represent SMC in the Miss South Carolina pageant June 23-27 at the Township Auditorium in Columbia. 

Brittany Moore, of Union, was first runnerup and Alisha Morehart, of Greer, was second runnerup. 

Overall evening gown honors went to Moore, who also won the community support award.  Overall talent was awarded to Morehart.  Karina Vega was named most photogenic.

Morehart, a sophomore, is the daughter of Tamara Smith-Morehart and Albert Morehart. She is pursuing an Associate in Arts degree with the major of psychology.

Five other women competed for Miss SMC. They included:

• Briauna Foster, freshman, daughter of Anita Johnson and Brian Foster, of Spartanburg. Foster.

• Angelica Johnson, sophomore, daughter of Melissa and Keith Johnson of North Augusta.

• Alyssa Queen, freshman, daughter of Phillip and Lisa Queen, of York.

• Karina Vega, freshman, daughter of Josefina Martinez and Juan Vega, of Gaffney.

• Rebeca Zuniga, freshman, daughter of Norma Duron and Tito Zuniga of Goose Creek.

The 2015 pageant, which was emceed by Trey Arrington, Executive Director of IT at SMC, welcomed back several former Miss SMC’s and SMC May Queens.

• Miss Bonnie Walls, Miss SMC 2013

• Miss Logan Phillips, Miss SMC 2014
