Carolina Shag is our state dance, and is most popular along the coast of SC, however after a 3 year sabbatical, it returns to Trade St in downtown Greer this Friday night.

The Davenport was host to over 30 dances a few years back with the live band The Out of Towners (now called the Carolina Coast Band).  These dances were an upstate favorite for people from as far away as 100 miles.

The dances will be returning on a monthly basis, with the 1st being Friday, December 9th.  Grace Hall, also on Trade St., will be the host to the new dances.  Located at 108 Trade St, across from Wild Ace Pizza and downstairs from the GreerToday office, Grace Hall offers twice the size dance floor as The Davenport.

The band begins at 8pm and will play until 11:30.  Cover charge is $10.   If you're new to shag, there is a Free basic lesson offered from 7 to 7:45pm.

Make your table reservations by emailing [email protected] or calling 864-848-7212.

Come into downtown Greer early to enjoy the Christmas Tree lighting in the park, as well as, many vendors setup throughout downtown.  More info >>

If you're want to see some great dancing, here's a few videos from around SC.
