Reportedly, Teresa Weatherspoon, 34, knocked on the door of Douglas J. Burgess, 62, asking for money. Witherspoon reportedly pulled a gun when Burgess refused.
Burgess also pulled his gun and they exchanged gunfire.
Weatherspoon was shot once in the leg and died in surgery of a severe hemorrhage after being airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Police report only two shots were fired.
