The first Shrine Bowl combine of the year is Saturday at Spartanburg High School. All rising 12th graders may attend.
The combines are provided for players to demonstrate skills needed for athletic scholarships and possible Shrine Bowl selection. It is open to all rising 12th graders. Athletes are advised to bring videos for the Shrine Bowl coaching staff to evaluate.
The cost is $20 cash per player, no checks or credit cards accepted. Shrine Bowl staff will be at each combine to collect registration fees. It’s suggested that each participant obtain a receipt from a Shrine Bowl representative. There is no pre-registration.
Athletes will be measured for height and weight and tested on vertical jump, 40-yard dash, pro agility shuttle and bench press repetition (185 pounds). Position players will work with Shrine Bowl coaches and work a series of football related drills.
The Shrine Bowl is Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. at Wofford College in Spartanburg.
