Allen Smith has been named to the South Carolina Alliance to Fix Our Roads. Executive Director, Bill Ross announced the appointment of Smith, President and CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.

The Alliance is a nonprofit, statewide organization made up of business leaders, associations and chambers of commerce who believe that an efficient, effective and safe highway system is essential to South Carolina's continued economicgrowth and social progress.

The mission of the Alliance is to facilitate safe and efficient highway systems throughout South Carolina by working with officials at all levels of government, industry, private citizens and advocacy.

"I am looking forward to working with Mr. Smith to voice concerns of Highway and Infrastructure needs, especially in the Upstate," stated Ross. "With the support of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce and the Upstate Chamber Coalition, and Chambers across South Carolina, we can ensure that the neglect of the highway system is addressed now and economic development continues in South Carolina."

"Maintaining and improving our state's road system are core functions of state government. However, the funding to fulfill these functions is inadequate," stated Smith. "If we are serious about becoming an economic powerhouse, we must get serious about addressing the state's infrastructure crisis."
