Spartanburg Medical Center in Top 50 in U.S. for cardiac surgery
Spartanburg Medical Center (SMC) has been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery by Healthgrades in 2016 and is in the top five percent in the nation for cardiac surgery.

“Every day we come to work and provide the best care for our patients, so we are ecstatic to receive this recognition. Even though the award spotlights heart surgery, it’s a reflection on the entire institution,” said Dr. Jason Rousseau, cardiothoracic surgeon, Medical Group of the Carolinas—Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

“Attention to detail is what I think sets us apart. Every little detail does matter in surgery, and paying attention and addressing them is what leads to our quality patient outcomes,” Rousseau said.

“This award reflects the hard work and dedication of the staff that care for some of our most seriously ill patients and their families,” said SMC President Phil Feisal.

SRHS has been a Five-Star Recipient for coronary bypass surgery for four straight years by Healthgrades Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award for two consecutive years and named among the top 10 percent in the Nation for cardiac surgery for two years in a row.
