The Most Rev. Robert E. Guglielmone, Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston, blessed the St. Francis Cancer Center on Tuesday.

The Most Rev. Robert E. Guglielmone's blessing was offered from a prayer compiled by Sister Dorothy Brogan of Bon Secours and prayed by the staff the first day the Cancer Center opened on Oct. 20:

Gracious and loving God.

Thank you for the gift of this day. A day of new beginnings.

As we enter this new Cancer Center that is filled with excitement and even some anxiety, we pause now and we reflect on your presence with us.

We thank you for the gifts and talents for which you have blessed us. We thank you for the many experiences and challenges that have brought us to this moment. We thank you for the work of so many people that have brought us to this day.

Gracious Lord be with us as we move forward rejoicing with you and supporting one another.

By the grace of your holy spirit make this place a house of blessings and a center of love where physicians practice in your healing, where all staff serve the sick and their families with compassion, tenderness and love.

We praise you for your generous gift of life and love and ask for your help in sharing that love with everyone we meet, in Christ's name.

And gracious Lord we ask your blessings upon this Center. May it always be a place where your healing presence is felt by all who enter.

We make this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen
