A bloop infield single in the top of the fifth inning scored the run that ended Northwood’s dream at the Little League World Series Monday at Williamsport, Pa.

Maddox Burr of Kentucky dropped a two-out floater of a pop fly just over the pitcher’s head and too soft for shortstop Alex Edmondson to make the final out of the inning. Kentucky held on to eliminate the Southeast Regional champs, 4-3.

Taylors was the first team to reach the LLWS since Clinton in 1950. No team before Taylors had won a game in the Series. Taylors beat Rhode Island (Northeast) in the first game on Alex Edmondson’s no-hitter and 3-run home run.

Braden Galinski belted a two-run home run for Taylors in the top of the second inning to help pull the team within 3-2. Taylors scored a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game, 3-3.

Burr’s short floater behind the mound gave Kentucky the winning run.

Taylors put a runner on base in the top of the sixth but couldn’t muster a rally.

Terrence Gist pitched Taylors into the bottom of the fifth when he had to leave because of the pitch count.
