The Wink Cafe and Catering opens Saturday at it news location next to Merrell’s Pizza at 1209 W. Poinsett Street.

The meat and two restaurant, co-owned by Art Elsey and Tracy Richard, will continue its regular hours: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Elsey said there were several reasons making the change now. “We’re established and the restaurant arrangement is better,” he said. “The traffic at Buncombe is hard to turn left to our restaurant, the parking is a lot better and the land is flatter.”

Elsey said older patrons had a more difficult time maneuvering the slightly uphill walk to the Buncombe Road restaurant.

Wink Cafe will continue its catering and floral arrangements made by Richard. “We’re kind of a one-stop shop,” Elsey said.

The bittersweet part of the move is leaving The Southern Growl, a craft beer business next door with 60 brews on tap. “We’re going to miss Matt (Bowes). He does a good business and we did a lot of takeout for them,” Elsey said.

“It feels good to be (on Poinsett) in Greer,” Richard said.

Once settled, new menu items will be introduced.  “We’ve done pretty good staying with the meat and two,” Elsey said.

The restaurant's phone number remains 864-848-0082.
