Greer wrapped up the Region II-3A championship Friday night with its 35-0 victory at Southside.
Emerald is one game behind Greer but the Yellow Jackets hold the tiebreaker with its defeat at Emerald.
Adrian McGee was held to 43 yards rushing but it was enough to go over the 1,000-yard mark for the season – 1,033. McGee scored two touchdowns, on 4- and 21-yard runs. He has 15 TDs this season.
Troy Pride scored on a 2-yard run and Cole Henderson, a lineman, was called on to record Greer's final rushing touchdown on a 4-yard run with 10:10 left in the third quarter. Xavier Wright caught a 24-yard scoring pass from Mario Cusano late in the second quarter.
Quarterback Mario Cusano completed 12 of 20 passes for 221 yards – a whopping 18.4 yards average per reception. Dorian Lindsey caught five passes for 110 yards, with 56 his longest.
Greer’s defense dominated Southside giving up only 83 yards on 39 plays for a 2.1-yard average. Southside could only muster 11 rushing yards on 25 carries.
Greer has not lost to Southside in seven games.
Southside fell to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the region.
