Urgent: Greer Relief needs storage and volunteers

Greer Relief is in urgent need of storage space and volunteers.

The 7,200-square foot storage donated to Greer Relief is on property, Highway 101 near the Barnyard Café, that has been sold. Stored items must be removed by Monday.

“We were blessed with free storage in a good-sized space,” Executive Director Caroline Robinson said. “If there is anybody in the community that can helps us, we can use it.”

The volunteers are wanted for Friday and Monday – 15 minutes or four hours – to clear out the storage and move what can be saved to a 20 x 10 foot storage unit that is now costing Greer Relief. Funding for storage was not budgeted this year.

“This puts a dent into what we can do for our families,” Robertson said. “We were able to accept in-kind donations and could help people with tables, chairs, couches and beds. Last year we were able to put seven families into homes furnished with donations.”

Robinson said she has been scurrying to inventory items in storage and find volunteers to deliver any merchandise to people in the community in need.

Items already donated for Christmas will be stored.

Call Robertson at 864-848-5355 or email her to offer storage or volunteer.
