Diabetes Self-management Education

Wednesday, April 18

Village Hospital Community Center

Diabetes affects every organ in your body and Carolinas Center for Diabetes and

Endocrinology can help you learn how to manage it. You must have a physician’s referral to participate, and insurance will be filed for the program’s cost. Participants receive a free blood glucose meter and diabetes reference book.

Village Hospital Meeting Room One

Nicotine Anonymous is a weekly support group dedicated to those who have a desire to stop using tobacco. This casual meeting is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For more information, please call the Joe R. Utley.

Center for Health and Healing Mind-Body Skills Group

Thursdays, April 12-May 31

10 a.m.  -  12 p.m.

Bearden Josey Center for Breast Health Education Room

Facilitator - Hunter Mahon, MBA, Certified in Mind Body Medicine.

The Mind-Body Skills Group is an eight-week program to learn the scientific basis for mind-body medicine, while experiencing the power of the small-group approach. Participants learn to use a range of tools for self-care and stress management, including biofeedback and autogenic training.

Tuition for the course is $300 and financial assistance is available for those who qualify. To register, call 560-1981.

Surviving Stroke: A Support Group

Monday, April 16

Regional Outpatient Center

Family Medicine Conference Room-Fifth Floor

This support group is for stroke survivors, their families or other support persons. It helps people learn more about stroke, share their experiences about stroke, and become inspired to move forward after their stroke. Call 560-2132 for more information.

Gibbs Cancer Center Garden

Advance Care Planning involves conversations between families, friends and healthcare providers about our values, goals and wishes, as well as a mechanism for documenting those conversations. Speaker Wes Collins, MA, Advance Care Planner with Spartanburg Regional, will provide practical dialogue and assistance with completing your important healthcare documents. This is a free event.
