Brishauna Wright of Greer High School signed Thursday to participate in track – shot put and discus – at Limestone College.

Wright signed with her family and track coach Erie Williams attending in the high school alumni room.

“Coach Williams was more than a coach on the field,” Wright said. “He has helped me through some tough times and has encouraged me to keep up my grades. He checks on me to make sure I am doing good.”

Wright was Peach Blossom AAA Region shot put champion as a junior. She was second in the shot and fifth in the discus at this week’s Greenville County meet. Wright finished fifth in the shot in the Coaches Classic.

Wright’s personal bests are 36 feet, 3 inches in the shot and 101 feet in the discus.

She competes next week in the region meet and has her sights on the state championships again this year.

Anthony Stockton, assistant track and field coach at Limestone, recruited Wright. "He and the staff welcomed me,” Wright said. “After a tour of the campus, coach Stockton gave us a tour around Gaffney. He showed us where everything was so we would feel at home."
