Saturday night was the final competition for the Miss South Carolina Pageant at the nearly sold-out Township Auditorium in Columbia. Eighty-eight teens and young women had competed all week in preliminaries and now it was time to see who would wear the crown.
The evening opened with a welcome from the event’s master of ceremonies, Jane Jenkins Herlong, a former Miss South Carolina, and the National Anthem sung by Crystal Garrett, Miss South Carolina 2007.

7:20 - Sydney Sill selected in the top 16 for Miss SC Teen
Miss Greater Greer Lauren Cabiniss was first runner-up in the Miss South Carolina Pageant Saturday night, and Miss Greater Greer Teen Sydney Sill was first runner-up in the Miss South Carolina Teen Pageant.
Sill also won the overall evening gown award.
Thursday night's Miss South Carolina Teen pageant saw Sydney Sill win the evening gown preliminary at Columbia's Township Auditorium.
Other winners of that night are Miss Easley Teen Allison Hale, taking the talent preliminary in Miss South Carolina Teen, Miss Laurens County Ali Rogers winning the physical fitness preliminary of Miss South Carolina, and Miss Clemson Leighann Bagwell winning the Miss South Carolina talent competition.
Tomorrow evening at 7:00 winners of Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen will be announced.
The final competition in the Miss South Carolina and Teen pageant is Thursday night at Columbia’s Township Auditorium.
The 2012 Miss South Carolina and 2012 Miss South Carolina Teen will be crowned Saturday night.

Bree Boyce, 2011 Miss South Carolina, and Caitlen Patton, 2011 Miss South Carolina Teen will end their reign with the crowning of their successors Saturday night at Township Auditorium in Columbia.
Lauren Cabaniss, Miss Greater Greer, will be in Columbia for the Miss South Carolina competition July 7-14. Cabaniss is one of the favorites based on her showing in the 2011 Miss South Carolina competition when she placed third runner-up and won the overall swimsuit and preliminary swimsuit.
Cabaniss is representing Greer for the third time. She twice was Miss Greater Greer Teen. Interestingly, Cabaniss is studying advanced dance at the University of South Carolina although she is vocal about her love for Clemson. USC had a dance program and Clemson didn’t.
Sydney Sill, Miss Greater Greer Teen, will be in Columbia for the Miss South Carolina Teen competition July 7-14.
Sill is among the favorites to win Miss South Carolina Teen. She was second runner-up in the 2011 Miss Teen contest competing as Miss Greater Lyman. She won overall sportswear and won her preliminary in physical fitness.
