Merle State Hunger Walk is Sunday

The Merle State Hunger Walk is Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. starting at Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 N. Main Street, and ending at Daily Bread Ministries at 521 E. Poinsett. That route will be closed to traffic until after the walk.

Registration is 1:30 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church.

Praise Cathedral featuring 'A Night of Hope!'

"A Night of Hope!" is scheduled Dec. 8 and 9 at Praise Cathedral (3390 Brushy Creek Road) with  a 120-voice choir, orchestra, and cast totaling over 200.

From Santas and reindeer, to wise men, shepherds, and baby Jesus, the greatest story ever told is portrayed. Adam Crabb, Christian recording artist, is the special guest.

Landlord/tenant training at Municipal Court Building Wednesday

A landlord/tenant training seminar is scheduled at the Greer Municipal Court Building Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The Greer Police Department is hosting the seminar to educate landlords and tenants on legal issues, narcotics and codes enforcement.

Sgt. Chad Richardson, who has organized the seminar, said the class originated with the proliferation of meth labs found operating in leased housing and businesses. “The landlords and tenants probably don’t know what steps to take and their responsibility if they come upon suspicious activity,” Richardson said. “There is a lot of cost involved in the cleanup after we shut down a meth operation. This is an educational seminar to let people know who to ask for help or questions they may have.”
