Everything will be 'ducky' at Reedy River Falls

The Reedy River Duck Derby draws a good crowd to the annual event held at the Falls in downtown Greenville.

About 10,000 ducks are expected Saturday at the Reedy River Duck Derby at Reedy River Falls. The event, originally was dubbed the Ken-Ducky Derby, because it is scheduled the same day as the Kentucky Derby. It has since changed its name to tie it more closely to Greenville.

Ann Golden, who has lived in Greenville for the past 32 years, is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Greenville Evening and is this year's organizer. The club has produced the event for the past eight years with its proceeds benefitting children.

Creation Station does have something for everybody

Children visiting Creation Station is one of the most active parts of the Greer Family Fest on Saturday morning. There are arts and crafts that have something for everyone. Greer area churches volunteer for this popular activity.

Parents may be advised to practice time management with their children next Saturday, May 5 at the free Anne Helton’s Creation Station from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The venue will be at the Train Depot at Randall Street.

There are at least a half dozen new arts and crafts featured among the 30 ranging from splatter paint to construction wood pile.

Blue Ridge HS Future Farmers even is April 21

The Blue Ridge High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter will host the 16th Annual Farm Day on Saturday, April 21, from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the historic Lindsey Plantation.

The Lindsey Plantation, 750 Camp Creek Road,Taylors was established in the 1830s. It is a commercial beef cattle and hay production operation. The event offers the public the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor experience designed to spotlight the economic importance and historic significance of Greenville County Agriculture.
