Foothills Philharmonic season ends Saturday

The Foothills Philharmonic ends its 13th season Saturday with its Pops concert at 7:30 p.m. at the J. Harley Bonds Career Center. The concert is free.

The Story Tellers, theme for the 2013-2014, season, featured international masterpieces. The season began by exploring classical masterworks and concludes by presenting popular favorites.

'Sleeping Beauty' characters entertain kids at tea party

Morgan Grace Privette, 13, and Eric Rhom, 17, welcomed princesses and dragon slayers to the Cannon Centre Sunday for

Princess Morgan Grace Privette, 13, and King Eric Rhom, 17, were among the stars entertaining children attending the "Sleeping Beauty Kids" tea party at the Cannon Centre last Saturday.

Privette has been in children's theater for six months and Rhom is participating in his second play.

Greer Relief, Piedmont Women's Center benefit from 'Leaders in Action'

Greer Relief staff received a $1,000 donation from the Leadership in Greer Class XXXIV and its  

Greer Relief and Resources Agency and the Piedmont Women’s Center have been awarded $1,000 each from Leadership Greer Class XXXIV and its class project “Leaders In Action”.

Executive Director Caroline Robertson of Greer Relief and her staff were presented its donation on Tuesday.

'Frozen', 'Despicable Me 2' headline Moonlight Movies season

“Frozen”, the Oscar winning best animated film and original song  ("Let It Go") for 2014, highlights the Moonlight Movies schedule at Greer City Park Amphitheater. All movies begin at dusk and are free.

Seven of the eight cinema movies are animated and all are rated PG. “Teen Beach Party” is a made for TV movie.

MTB's Gray: 'We're ready to rock the lawn' at Family Fest

The Marshall Tucker Band will be the headlining act at the Family Fest May 2-3. 

You know it is going to be a great concert when Doug Gray, lead singer of the Marshall Tucker Band, suggests the city add more speakers for his appearance in Greer City Park.

Doug and I chatted last week how I was looking forward to this year's Greer Family Fest because of its 30th anniversary that will be memorable with MTB on stage.

Greer Chamber throws its support behind sales tax referendum

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce has weighed in on road improvements by endorsing a referendum for voters to decide for or against a one percent sales tax to fund transportation improvement projects within Greenville.

Greer City Council approved, 6-1, Tuesday night to also support Greenville County for a referendum to allow voters to decide for or against the sales tax to fund the projects.

Greer First Baptist, New River team to tell Easter Story

Greer First Baptist Church and New River gospel and bluegrass band have teamed to tell the Easter Story in a unique presentation Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.
 

A unique Easter celebration comes to Greer First Baptist Church featuring local renowned gospel bluegrass band New River Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.

Following the success of Greer First Baptist’s Smoky Mountain Christmas this past December, the Worship and Drama Ministries are partnering with New River to tell the Easter Story. Using the popular music and music style of New River along with dramatic “eye-witness” accounts of those who were there at the death and resurrection of Christ. The musical and dramatic production is for all ages.

Reedy, Rowdy go door-to-door looking for mischief

Reedy Rip'It stopped by Stomping Grounds to play a game of dominoes. He couldn't hide from fans wanting their picture taken with him.
 

Reedy Rip’It went door-to-door looking for shoppers and merchants and Rowdy the Warrior took care of traffic control during Mascots on Trade, a Tuesday night promotion by the Greer Station Association.

The Chick-fil-A cow also made an appearance.
