Greer will host its annual Freedom Blast Saturday at City Park from 6-10 p.m. Admission is free.
Spartanburg based party band Back 9 will provide two sets of music sandwiched around festivities featuring army vehicles on display, Preston Johnson Veterans Walk honoring military who served, inflatables and crafts for children.
Greer has announced the cancellation of its Freedom Blast festival and all its annual summer events because of COVID-19 and recommendations from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of social distancing.
The Moonlight Movies series and Tunes in the Park are also canceled, and the street festival planned for July 10 to celebrate the conclusion of the CenterG streetscape project will be rescheduled, according to the City of Greer’s Monday announcement.
A tribute to military veterans and active duty and a concert by Ashland Craft is scheduled for tonight’s Freedom Blast at Greer City Park.
The annual event is 6-10:30 p.m. with fireworks ending the evening.
The Christmas holiday season is celebrated in Greer with an evening of festivities, the tree lighting and arrival of Santa Claus at Greer City Park.
Weather made to order, clear skies and mild temperatures (60-55 degrees), will greet thousands of visitors to the 5-7:30 p.m. ceremonies.
Two entertainment groups have been added to Railfest during its Sept. 30 celebration of Greer’s railroad roots at Greer City Park.

This is the 9th year Greer has celebrated Freedom Blast, coinciding with the opening of the new City Hall and its expansive park in 2008.
The Moonlight Movies schedule at City Park is set.
The Moonlight Movies, all free, are June 1-July 27 on nine consecutive Thursdays. The movies begin at dark in the park’s amphitheater.
Chase Bryant is the headline performer for the 33rd Annual Pelham Medical Center Greer Family Festival Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, throughout downtown Greer and City Park.
Bryant, 24, will perform a concert on May 6 at 7:30 p.m. He is the youngest entertainer to headline the festival.

Brian Martin’s investment into Greer has resonated far beyond the Upstate with his vision of residential growth downtown combined with small businesses.

The Tube Dudes are coming to Greer and bringing the power of the smile.
Scott Gerber is the internationally acclaimed artist behind the creation of colorful, steel, tube-like, stick figures in poses that are modeled toward a community’s theme.
The second Food Truck Rollout was held at Greer City Park Thursday with a sparse crowd attending.
"We had a little more the first time than we do tonight," said a volunteer. "But that was on a Friday night and we think maybe there was too much going on with Friday night football."
The food trucks are rolling into City Park Thursday for a return engagement by popular demand.
“We are reaching out to that group of people, young professionals, to provide a more adult event at City Park and if it can flourish,” City Events Supervisor Ashlyn Stone said.
Seventeen bike racks have been delivered to the City of Greer as part of its long-term walking and bike trails master plan.
The racks are an investment from Partnership for Tomorrow, a think tank of Greer leaders who helps steer the city’s future development and quality of life.
The inaugural Railfest held Saturday at City Hall and City Park was a huge playground of trains of all shapes and sizes for kids and adults.
The children were easy to spot with their Norfolk Southern hats feature puzzles and safety guidelines inside. And it was easy to find most of them as they were lined up throughout the entire four hours riding on the train that made its way throughout the park.
