Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office have obtained warrants against 37-year-old Joevaughn Leon Meredith, who is currently incarcerated at the McDuffie County Georgia Detention Center, for multiple Ill-Treatment of Animals charges.
The arrest stems from an investigation that began on April 1 after the GCSO received information concerning the potential mistreatment of animals under Meredith's care.

Deputies initially responded to St. Francis Hospital at 3:17 A.M., after it was reported a male showed up with at least one gunshot wound. The victim’s status is unknown at this time and currently nobody is in custody.

Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit have charged 28-year-old Lynda Leigh Nicole Lawson with Homicide by Child Abuse after investigators found she left her 7-month-old son in a bathtub unattended for an extended period of time, causing him to drown.
Following the incident, the infant was transported to the hospital, where he remained on life-support until, sadly, he succumbed to the injury and passed away on July 24, 2024.

A judge sentenced a Spartanburg man to 20 years in prison of which he must serve at least 17. He has already served 3 years, leaving, at minimum, 14 more. Following that he will serve five years of home detention and another five years of probation.
Yuriy Karpik, 27, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Spartanburg to two counts of Felony DUI with Death, two counts of Felony DUI with Great Bodily Injury, and one count of Malicious Injury to Personal Property value over $2,000. Circuit Court Judge R. Keith Kelly issued the sentence.
Herbert Francis Barnhill has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, 5 years for possession of weapon during the commission of a violent crime, 10 years for discharging a firearm Into a dwelling, 5 years for stalking, 1 year for contraband, and 30 days for possession of marijuana – all to run concurrently.
As part of the plea, a permanent restraining order was issued against Barnhill for the benefit of Melissa Hammond and her minor child. Circuit Court Judge J. Derham Cole issued the sentence.

A gun was found in a 4th-grade student’s backpack in an elementary school in Greenville County Tuesday morning. Greenville County Sheriff Office Deputies observed the empty gun but also noted an unattached magazine with ammunition inside the backpack.
Deputies were called to Cherrydale Elementary just after 10 a.m., and upon further investigation, investigators learned that the student was overheard by another student talking about having a gun, according to Lt. Ryan Flood.
The Greer Police Department arrested the younger brother of a Greer teen, and both have been charged with attempted murder, according to Capt. Patrick Fortenberry with the GPD.
Jerry Nathaniel Dodd, 18, of Greer was arrested Wednesday evening on outstanding warrants with the GPD. A day earlier Jeffrey Tykei Dodd, 19, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office have arrested, Zonia Michael Lee Jefferson, 56, in connection with a Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor investigation initiated in November, 2022.
During the investigation, investigators discovered that Zonia committed multiple unlawful sexual acts with three victims between 2018 and 2021. He committed the crimes as an existing registered sex offender.
A Roebuck woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after she admitted to fatally shooting her husband.
Shelia Denise Lebron, 55, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime on Monday. She will serve 85 percent of Circuit Judge Keith Kelly’s prison sentence before she is eligible for release.
