A Greer teenager and a Georgia man are facing multiple charges following an incident early Tuesday morning at the teen's home on Aldgate Way in Greer.
Greer police have charged 20-year-old Justin Foss, of Evans, Ga., and 16-year-old Kathleen Fentress with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of armed robbery. Foss was also charged with possession of a deadly weapon.
A Duncan man received a 30-year prison sentence today after he admitted to using a tool to rob a local convenience store.
Alvin Anderson Jr., 50, pleaded guilty to the Oct. 1. 2011 armed robbery of the Circle K, 592 E. Main St., Duncan. Anderson entered the business about 3:30 a.m. He picked up an item from a display and approached the counter. Anderson brandished a blunt object that was roughly the size and shape of a hammer and struck the clerk in the head. Anderson jumped the counter and hit the clerk again before he took a sum of money from the cash register and fled.
Seventh Circuit Solicitor Barry Barnette filed this afternoon to continue serving as the chief criminal prosecutor for Spartanburg and Cherokee counties.
The 21-year veteran of the local criminal justice system is participating in his first general election later this year. Barnette was appointed solicitor in 2011.
Officers of the Greer Police Department arrested Kenneth Carmero Brown, 25, of Greer and charged him with trafficking marijuana after they executed a search warrant at his home and found 27.5 pounds of marijuana and $15,277.
The warrant, obtained by the Directed Patrol Unit and Vice Unit, was served about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Brown's residence at 405 Harvey Road.
Greer will honor its city of police, fire and first responders with a Public Safety Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m. The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is partnering with MD360 of the Greenville Hospital System for the event scheduled at City Hall.
Dinner and entertainment, an appearance from a Barney Fife impersonator, is included in the $30 ticket price. The chamber's goal is to provide this event at no charge to the public safety professionals. Sponsorship for a public safety person costs $30 with no limit to the number requested.

Two people died at 203 Pelham Street in a shootout on Jan. 30. Both victims knew each other and, according to police, there isn't any further threat to the community.
