Residents and business owners are invited to chat with members of the Greer Police Department Tuesday, 7-8 a.m., at Hardee’s as part of the city’s Coffee with a Cop community outreach.
The GPD will be at Hardee’s at 14520 E. Wade Hampton Blvd.
A Lyman man received a 30-year prison sentence Tuesday after he admitted to shooting his estranged wife to death.
Robert Lee O’Shields Sr., 54, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and violation of an order of protection. O’Shields’ defense attorneys argued that he was depressed and suicidal at the time of the murder. The designation doesn’t impact the sentence length.
A Greer man received a 17-year prison sentence and a $50,000 fine Wednesday for multiple drug offenses.
Travis O. Jones, 36, pleaded guilty to second-offense possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and second-offense distribution of crack. The charges stem from arrests on July 25, 2013 at a Wilkie Drive residence in Welford and Dec. 3, 2014 at a Sunnyside Circle home in the City of Greer.
