A Lyman woman received a 15-year prison sentence Monday and 5 years of probation after she admitted to driving drunk and causing a wreck that claimed the life of one person and critically injured a second victim.
Lauren C. Smith, 32, pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence with a death and felony driving under the influence with great bodily injury. Circuit Judge Keith Kelly issued a 25-year prison sentence that was suspended to 15 years of service and 5 years of probation.
The Greer Police Department is investigating the death of an infant at the request of the Greenville County Coroner’s office.
City police responded to Crescent Park Commons, 401 Elizabeth Sarah Boulevard, at 7:45 a.m. and officers learned that a 7-month-old infant was deceased.
