Katherine Eleanor Tippin Smith, the sister of country music star Aaron Tippin of Greer, has died. She was 64.
Smith died March 27 at her Williamston home. She is a native of Pensacola, Fla., and was an employee of UPS and a member of the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Greer.

"Greer Goes Global" will held indoors on the second floor at Greer City Hall Saturday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The festival is free and food vendors wil be selling food and beverages.
The BMW Charity Pro-Am Celebrity Walk of Fame, a red carpet event, is scheduled Thursday May 15, 6:45 – 7:45 p.m. on Main Street in front of the Courtyard Greenville downtown.

Larry Beheler, tournament director, said this is the latest start for the tournament, which puts it within two weeks of the Family Fest, scheduled May 2-3. “We are making the tournament more uniform by scheduling it the third weekend in April,” Beheler said. “It’s Easter weekend but we’re hoping some families will join us for Saturday.”
John Fowler, an Appalachian storyteller and mountain musician, will be at Greer Heritage Museum Saturday (March 22) at 10 a.m. for a free program and book signing.
The event will also feature the popular James Brothers, Marshall and Leon, who were grand prize winners at the Upstate Black Expo Gospel competition in 2012 in Greenville.
Greer First Baptist is presenting an Easter celebration featuring New River, a local gospel band Saturday April 5 at 6 p.m. and Sunday April 6 at 11 a.m.
The church produced a Smoky Mountain Christmas last year and are partnering with New River to tell the Easter story.
Boxing icon Sugar Ray Leonard is the keynote speaker for Greenville Health System’s 8th annual Minority Health Summit themed “Knock Out Cancer!”.
Leonard, a holder of five weight class championships in his prime and prostate cancer advocate, will speak at the Saturday April 12 event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the TD Convention Center. Leonard won a gold medal in the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
The Southern Dance Connection raised $1,300 for Greer Relay for Life with a pageant featuring talent and beauty in several age groups. SDC will have a team walking in the Greer Relay for Life. Donations are still being accepted.
The Greer Relay for Life is Friday, May 16 at Greer High School beginning at 6 p.m.

Triplets, including the first male cub born at Hollywild Animal Park in its 42 years, arrived Jan. 11 to Ramses, 26, and Giza, 14. The triplets, two females and the male, are the third set of offspring of the pair.
Giza gave birth to female triplets, Amalia, Samra and Malika, in 2012 and gave birth to Syriana Nyeff, another female cub, in 2012.
