David and Jean Austin wanted a simple wedding ceremony on a historical date. What they got was the most romantic day of the year.

The Austins were married Tuesday on 11/12/13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Skylight Chapel.

The Austins, from Bradenton, Fla., selected the date 18 months ago. They love the mountains and chose to come from Florida and visit family, do some deer hunting and get married. An officiant conducted the ceremony.

“People get married (on sequential dates) because it will never happen again in this century,” said Sharon Hyatt a wedding planner in Greer.

David’s Bridal, the largest American bridal-store chain, predicted more than 3,000 couples would marry Tuesday.

The next, and last sequential date in this century, is 12/13/14.
