Witnesses at the restaurant said the suspects left before police arrived. Security video at the restaurant helped the GPD Criminal Investigations Division identify all four suspects.’

According to the incident report this is how the brawl developed.

A Greer Police Department officer responded to Tipsy Taco with a reported assault in progress. Multiple people were involved in a fight.

An officer made contact with Alvin Anderson and reported he had blood on his hands, face, jacket and pants. Jackson told the officer he was sitting at the restaurant’s bar when two white males, who had been in the bar earlier, approached the bar door and began knocking due to it being locked, according to the GPD report. Anderson stated that he opened the door and the subjects began to get upset about the bar being closed. Anderson told GPD he advised the subjects that he did not work at the bar.

Anderson said that the subjects then grabbed him and began beating him and that he attempted to fight back to defend himself, according to the GPD report. Anderson told GPD he wanted to press charges on the subjects that “jumped” him, GPD reported.

An officer interviewed Demetris Jackson who said that he was at the restaurant with Anderson when the fight began. Jackson’s statement matched Anderson’s, according to the GPD report. Jackson said that when Anderson was grabbed he attempted to jump in and help Anderson, Jackson told GPD. Jackson said a male inside the bar was also involved in the fight. Jackson said he also wanted to press charges on the subjects that jumped Anderson and him, according to the GPD report. Jackson appeared to have a possible broken finger, according to the police report.

The GPD officer reported he made contact with the man identified as Brandon Mason. Mason stated he was not involved in the fight and did not know the other subjects involved.

GPD reported that a male subject identified as Phillip Jolly said he witnessed the entire incident and tried to help Anderson. Jolley told GPD he grabbed one of the unknown subjects from the back and was slung to the ground. Jolley said that during the fight he dropped his phone. Jolley stated that afterwards he was unable to locate his phone and believes someone picked it up but didn’t want to press charges but did want his phone back, according to the GPD report.

Daniel and Sandra Powell were also interviewed by GPD. Sandra said that when she saw the fight break out she got between some of the subjects to try to break up the fight and help Jolley. She got punched in the face and fell to the ground, according to the GPD report. Daniel said he attempted to break up the fight and help Jolley and also got hit in the face. The GPD reported Sandra was visibly upset and crying and Daniel appeared to have a small cut on the bridge of his nose.

Video from Tipsy Taco was available on the inside and outside of the restaurant.

The video begins with Anderson, Jackson, Jolley, Daniel and Sandra Howell all sitting at the bar in the middle sections and Mason sitting further toward the patio end, according to the GPD. The video shows Anderson walk to the locked door and open it. A few seconds pass and the conversation turned physical. The video shows Anderson being punched multiple times by the subjects, according to the GPD.

The video showed Mason and a heavier set white male ran to the door where the altercation turned physical. Mason grabbed Jackson around the neck in a strangling like hold with his arm around the front of Jackson’s neck, according to the GPD report. Jackson appeared to break free from the hold after Daniel began to break up the fight. Mason then began punching Daniel in the face, according to the GPD report.

The video, according to the GPD, shows Sandra being punched in the face and falling to the ground after she got between Mason and Daniel.

The video outside shows two subjects punching and kicking Anderson, according to the GPD report.

An unidentified male can be seen on the video body slamming Anderson and punching him multiple times while the second suspect kicks Anderson. Anderson was in the fetal position lying on the concrete outside, the GPD reported. While Anderson is being hit, Jolley attempts to break up the fight and is thrown on the ground by the second subject before the second subject runs over to Anderson and begins kicking Anderson, the GPD reported.

The fight breaks up and three unidentified subjects leave Tipsy Taco, according to the GPD.
