Alex Love was recognized by the ASUN Conference as part of its 2016-17 Winter Winners for Life Team.
USC Upstate senior cross-country/track and field athlete Alex Love was recognized by the ASUN Conference on Wednesday as part of its 2016-17 Winter Winners for Life Team.
Love becomes the fifth Upstate student-athlete to be selected to the Winners for Life Team along with Rachel Baylor (women’s soccer) and Ryan Rector (softball), and former Spartans Alexa Hone (women’s soccer) and Brittany Starling (women’s basketball).

The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the eight institutions in the conference and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
Love is a communications major and owns a 3.18 grade-point average.
Competing in distance events for track and field, Love set a career-best time in the 5,000-meter run this season of 15:20.57. A native of Pasadena, Md., Love also earned ASUN Runner of the Week honors in cross-country on Sept. 21.
